May we introduce ourselves - the team responsible for the content of Quarrysafe UK.
Dr Patrick Foster B Eng (Hons) PhD C Eng CMIOSH MIMMM MMVSSA MIQ: Patrick is the Anglo American plc Lecturer in Mining Engineering at the Camborne School of Mines, part of the University of Exeter, where he lectures and undertakes research into the health, safety and working environmental aspects of mining. Prior to this, he worked as a mining health and safety consultant undertaking health & safety management system audits, risk assessment training and research in both the UK and South Africa. He graduated in Mining Engineering from the University of Nottingham in 1992. He then undertook his PhD at Nottingham looking into risk assessment in the mining industry.
Anam Parand, MSc: Until recently, Anam was a Research Assistant at Camborne School of Mines based at Exeter University’s Cornwall campus. Holding a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a Masters in Organisational Psychology from UMIST, her background is in research and consultancy within occupational safety. She has worked for DuPont de Nemours at their European HQ in Switzerland researching the costs of work-related accidents, where she co-developed a guide for managers to investigate the cost of an accident within their company. She has recently worked on a research project, supported by the Minerals Industry Research Organisation, to highlight unsafe behaviours common to the quarrying sector, to identify root causes of such behaviours and to develop a behavioural-based safety process applicable to quarries.
Dr Jonathan Bennett B Eng (Hons) PhD ACSM ACQI ACIL:
Jon moved to academic research after many years in management, including ten years working with management systems and cultures. This included the development and maintenance of quality management systems, facilitation of total quality initiatives, culture-change programmes, strategic planning and health and safety. He has recently been working on a research project, supported by the Minerals Industry Research Organisation, aimed at improving standards of health and safety in the UK quarrying sector, with a particular interest in research into 'leading indicators' and the refinement of industry-specific management systems. This was based at the world-renowned Camborne School of Mines in Cornwall, UK, linked to the University of Exeter.

The Camborne School of Mines is part of the University of Exeter (Cornwall Campus) and provides undergraduate and postgraduate education and a wide range of research for the minerals industry. Recognised Explosives Supervisor and Shotfirer courses are also provided.
